High Schools Benefit From Trillium Foundation Seed Grant

AgScape has announced four new high school resources as part of a $29,600 Seed grant, made by the Ontario Trillium Foundation in 2016.

The year-long Seed grant from the Foundation funded the development of four new ‘contextualized learning activities’ or CLA’s. Those are required for the high school level ‘Specialist High Skills Major’ program focusing on science, math, language and business.

The science lesson plan was launched in late 2016 and focused on the health of the Great Lakes.

The remaining lessons will be launched throughout 2017.

The annual meeting last week hosted an engaging panel discussion ‘Trashing Food Waste’ and wrapped up with a round table discussion with students on food waste and the global challenge of feeding nine billion people.

AgScape® is a not-for-profit organization providing resources to Ontario schools on agriculture, food production, environmental sustainability and related topics.

“Our agri-food sector is rich with innovative and high-tech opportunities. We want to make sure all students are aware of these exciting opportunities and understand more about the agri-food sector,” says Keith Currie, AgScape Chair.
