Trump Budget Calls For Savings Via Captured Wild Horse Sales

Donald Trump's new 2018 budget proposal calls for savings of $10M by selling wild horses captured throughout the Western United States, without the requirement that the animals won't be sold for slaughter.

Trump's budget proposal is the latest clash between ranchers and activist groups that want to protect the horses.

"Wild Horse Education", a group established to protect Wild Horses in America's West, says Trump's actions are a way to lay down to appease a well-funded livestock lobby.

Over the past eight years, the U.S. Bureau of Land Management's wild-horse budget has more than doubled to just over $80M in 2017.

The Wild Free-Roaming Horse Act in 1971 allowed older animals to be sold, but for years, Congress has approved budget language specifically outlawing the sale of any wild horses for slaughter.
