Roger Johnson, who is the President of the NFU, says the current agreement favors only one group: Multinational meatpacking companies.
He says just four beef packers now control over 85% of the American beef market, often raising cattle in both Canada & Mexico before returning them to the States for slaughter and sale.
Johnson says that while NAFTA has resulted in an increase in overall beef exports, it has also increased the American beef trade deficit with both Canada & Mexico.
