Company Wants Ontario Farmers To Experiment With Okra

A Niagara region Innovation Centre wants Ontario farmers to consider adding Okra to their crop production lineup.

The Research and Innovation Centre in Vineland has been working on the crop for over five years, and now think that yields of 20,000 kg-per-hectare are possible.

A Senior Research Technician of Vegetable Production with the Vineland Research and Innovation Centre says Ontarians might be surprised by the current demand for Okra in Ontario, who imported over 6-million kg in 2015 alone.

Vineland says they'll provide seeds to any Ontarians willing to experiment with Okra. More information is available at VinelandResearch.com.
