A new winter wheat variety has out-yielded all other varieties in intensive trials by the Ontario Cereal Crops Committee.
The Dow Seeds strain, a medium-awned soft red winter wheat variety, delivered an average of 110% yield index over two years. The trials were conducted across Southern Ontario, from areas between Windsor and Kingston, and as far north as Midland.
Dow Seeds says the strain is an exciting new variety, with good disease tolerance and above-average yields.
