Use Common Sense Say Police

Some friends getting set to play war games in a Chatham neighbourhood gave residents a scare.

Police got a call around 12:30pm yesterday about a suspicious person in the Patteson Ave. area. The concerned citizen reported a man dressed in full camo, carrying a backpack and armed with a holstered handgun.

Several officers converged on the area and stopped a 26-year-old man who matched the description. He explained that he was on his way to participate in "war games" with some friends, and the gun was a realistic looking replica.

The incident has police reminding the public to use common sense in these types of situations.
