Neonics Debate Hits Chatham Council

Chatham-Kent Council is weighing in on the neonicotinoids debate.

The pesticide has been accused of playing a role in a declining bee population.

Ward 4 Councillor Leon Leclair says too much of anything can be a bad thing. "If you drink 40x the recommended rate of water in a day, you'd die too. If there is bee death, let's solve it. We've retooled some of our planners, we've retooled the way we bag stuff, we've already tried to find a solution."

On Monday, council agreed to appeal to the provincial government and the Western Wardens to help find a resolution to the neonics controversy.
