The local public school board can now put money towards advertising improvements they undertake at their schools.
Jim Costello, the director of education at the Lambton Kent District School Board, says the board recently changed the language in their advertising policy.
"We added in some language around enhancing a facility," says Costello. "So if we ever did a major renovation to a school this regulation would empower us to take out an advertisement in the local newspaper if we wanted to have an open house or something to celebrate that."
Costello says the board doesn't receive extra funding from the province for advertising so they don't typically allocate a lot of money towards it. He adds that the the two events they advertise the most are kindergarten and high school registration.
