Thefts Leads To Numerous Charges

41-year-old man is facing numerous charges after stealing Pop Tarts from a Chatham store.

Police say the suspect entered the store on Richmond St. around 5pm Monday afternoon, concealed the box of Pop Tarts and left without paying. He was located a short distance away and apprehended.

Officers detected a strong odour of alcohol on his breath and found a container of booze on him. An investigation revealed the suspect was not allowed to buy, possess or consume alcohol as a part of bail conditions.

The suspect has been charged with theft and possesion, as well as breach of recognizance. He was taken into custody and held for a bail hearing.
