ATM Fraud Alleged

Chatham-Kent police have laid a fraud charge after a man allegedly made a phony deposit at a bank machine and then withdrew a large amount of cash.

Police say on Jan. 29, a man deposited an empty envelope in the ATM machine at the Scotia Bank on Grand Ave. W but entered information saying it contained $2,000.

The man then withdrew $1,000.

Police located the 31-year-old Tilbury East man yesterday. He's charged with fraud under $5,000 and is due in court at a later date.
