The Farm to School Nutrition Program is expanding in Chatham-Kent.
The innovative program, which launched in eight elementary schools last year, is expanding to include eight more in 2015.
Student Nutrition Program Coordinator Elaine Lewis says the program brings produce from local farms to the students.
"It has worked out very well, we're increasing consumption of fruits and vegetables and that's good," says Lewis. "Also lessening our carbon footprint and encouraging our local economy."
Partners include Evans Wholesale, Southwestern Ontario Gleaners in Leamington, and local farmers. The program will now reach 3,600 students.
