It's going to be a party at Chatham Memorial Arena today ahead of the Kraft Hockeyville announcement on Hockey Night in Canada.
Chatham-Kent Manager of Recreation and Facilities Scott Mailing says those hoping to get into the arena for the 6:30pm taping should get there early.
"It will be first come, first serve," says Mailing. "Hopefully we can fit everyone in, but we're not really sure the amount of the turnout so there will be capacity, so get there early so you're not disappointed."
Mailing says there will be a number of activities going on including a three-on-three road hockey tournament with registration for that starting at 12:30pm and the tournament beginning at 1pm.
"Everybody's very proud of this event," says Mailing. "It's already a bonus to win the $100,000 [towards arena renovations] and if we were going to be successful with [getting the NHL pre-season] hockey game, I'm sure there would be lots more good events going on there. Everybody in Chatham-Kent is very proud of all the work that everybody's done."
There will also be bands, face painting and a petting zoo with admission to some activities granted through the donation of a Kraft product.
