Essex County Warden Tom Bain is expressing concerns with the level of care the region will get if a new mega-hospital is able to be built.
"Looking at past history where we moved from four hopitals to two, we had promises about the level of care and I strongly believe some of those promises weren't fulfilled," says Bain. "Now we see ourselves moving from those two hospitals to one, I'm concerned about the level of care. Are they going to be able to give our community not only the present level of care, but better?"
Erie-St. Clair Local Health Intregration Network CEO Gary Switzer has heard those concerns and stresses a new hospital would maintain or improve the level of care in Windsor-Essex.
"I'm certainly going to keep reminding him that that's probably the most important thing as far as we're concerned is that level of healthcare, we're always trying to improve on it," says Bain.
A public information session giving an update on the process regarding the single-site acute care centre is being held at the Atlas Tube Centre in Lakeshore for 7pm.
