Chatham Councillor Brock McGregor thinks the municipality can do a better job communicating information to the public.
Next week, he'll present a notice of motion for Chatham-Kent administration to come up with a comprehensive communication plan for bylaw notices and emergency situations.
McGregor says this gives residents the chance to give quicker feedback on municipal business. "An issue will come forward, we'll deal with it, and nothing will happen for a few months. Then someone will call and ask a question that aligns with exactly what we've dealt with. It's frustrating to think they mav have missed an opportunity to have some input."
McGregor adds there's a lot to be learned from events like the Ridgetown boil water incident when it comes to effective public communication. He will make the motion at a council meeting later this month.
