Essex Fire Chief Rick Arnel is taking a page from the book of his time in Chatham-Kent.
The former Chatham-Kent assistant fire chief is implementing an "after fire" tip manual for those in Essex who have had a fire at their home or business.
"If they have a fire, it gives them salvage tips and ways to safely clean and how to clean things and all that kind of stuff," says Arnel. "We're thinking about putting it up on the website, so that somebody can browse through."
Arnel says a similar document is used in Chatham-Kent as well as other municipalities in Essex County.
"There was an 'After the Fire' document that was produced by the County [of Essex] 15 to 20 years ago, maybe even longer ago," says Arnel. "This is just an updated version that gives a whole lot of phone numbers."
Arnel has been working on the new manual for Essex since he arrived in January.
