The National Basketball League of Canada has laid down fines and suspensions in connection with an altercation at the WFCU Centre.
The NBLC is issuing a $20,000 fine to the Halifax Rainmen organization after the team failed to play Game 7 of the championship final against the Windsor Express.
The Rainmen's head coach Josep Claros, and assistant coach Pedro Monteiro, both face fines and have been issued a lifetime ban in coaching within the NBLC. Eleven members of the team's 12-man roster have been issued $5,000 fines each, and are suspended until a full investigation is complete.
On Thursday, Windsor police were called to the WFCU Centre in connection with an altercation involving 15-20 individuals. They say no injuries were reported and no charges were laid.
The Halifax Rainmen say in a statement that they left prior to the game because of safety concerns for their players and coaches. The Windsor Express have been awarded the 2015 NBL Championship Title.
