U.S. School Attracts Local Athlete

A 17-year-old Chatham high school student is transferring to an American prep school to pursue a future in basketball.

Marley Blommers had offers from several different schools but chose Marianapolis Prep in Thompson, Connecticut because he believes the school will be a good fit.

"My aspirations are to play college basketball at any level, Division One preferably, and hopefully get a good education," he says. "I visited there a couple of weeks ago and it was just a beautiful campus and they have a great coach that was inviting and they have a great schedule with a lot of potential for me to play."

He will reclassify so he has two more years of high school. Blommers is believed to be the first player from Chatham-Kent to play basketball for an American prep school.
