Jaguar Turns Down Windsor

The City of Windsor has missed out on a potential investment from British automaker Jaguar, but it wasn't due to a lack of trying.

According to Mayor Drew Dilkens, both the provincial and federal governments were at the table alongside Windsor. "It wasn't anything about Windsor or Essex County in terms of our competitiveness. It was really the macro picture, that when all the factors were put together -- this area, and what looked like most of Ontario, were not competitive."

Dilkens explains companies like Jaguar see Mexico and Romania as more attractive markets right now because of low-cost production.

After a debriefing phone call with Jaguar officials, Dilkens says it's clear that all levels of government need a collective automotive strategy to get behind.
