Pan Am Torch Illuminates Windsor (Gallery)

The Pan Am torch has touched down in Windsor.

Olympic boxer and Windsor native Mary Spencer lit the cauldron in front of a packed city hall square Tuesday.

Spencer says it's an honour to carry the flame. "If I actually had to pick one word of how this event made me feel -- it was just harmony," says Spencer.

During the 2011 Pan Am Games in Mexico, Spencer won the light heavyweight gold medal in women's boxing. "I had a great experience as an athlete and even being able to carry the flag for closing ceremonies was fantastic," she says. "And now being in my hometown and lighting the cauldron, everything I could possibly want to do with the Pan Am games and I'm able to be happy about it."

The Pan Am Torch Relay stops in Leamington Wednesday morning before heading to London. The 2015 Toronto Pan Am Games start July 10.
