Tonight's Ford Fireworks display on the Detroit River will be a full minute longer than past years.
"I think people are really, really going to be excited," says Detroit Parade Company President and CEO Tony Michaelson. He says the theme this year is Colours of Love. "You'll see some bright new colours. You're going to see some new designs."
Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island CEO Gordon Orr says the economic impact of the fireworks on the Windsor side of the Detroit River has never been measured, but hotels expect an uptick in business.
In Detroit, the fireworks are big business. Michaelson says the economic impact in Detroit alone is $20-million. "And that's just for a late afternoon and evening and a 26-minute show."
The display starts at 10:06pm.
