Five Inducted Into CK Sports Hall Of Fame

The Chatham Sports Hall of Fame has announced its inductees for 2015.

A selection committee of 13 previous inductees and former hall members have voted in Western University football player Derek Krete for the "Athlete-Modern" category, and former Chatham Maroons player Joe Malo for the "Athlete-Legend" category. As well, the 1989/90 CKSS Boys Volleyball team has been inducted into the "Team" category and hockey administrator Bill Stobbs was chosen for the "Builder" category.

Jim Maynard has also been inducted as directors’ choice in the "Builder" category.

Jay Teetzel, chairman with the Chatham Sports Hall of Fame Board of Directors, says the selection committee looks for a variety of elements when voting for the inductees.

"They look at the highest level of competition, whether it's local or provincial, national or international, going up to the Olympics and world championships," he says. "And then they look at the longevity; how long they were involved in this, (as well as) their awards and accomplishments."

The hall of fame's 17th annual dinner and induction ceremony will take place on September 17, 2015 at the WISH Centre. Tickets will go on sale on August 1 and will be available for purchase at the WISH Centre.  For more information Chatham Sports Hall of Fame, click here.
