No Heavy Trucks Allowed

It could be at least a couple of months before big trucks can use the Keil Dr. Parry Bridge in Chatham again.

The municipality's Director of Drainage, Asset, and Waste Management Tim Dick says the 9-tonne total weight restriction is in place because the bridge needs some repairs.

"The plan is to assess the possibility of doing a more immediate repair to try to get the bridge fully open to traffic sooner rather than later," says Dick, adding heavy trucks will have to find another way for now. "We need to make sure if your vehicle is of a commercial variety, you need to use the properly posted routes such as the Lacroix St. Bridge or the Prairie Siding Bridge."

Dick says if they are able to make a quick repair to the bridge, he's hopeful that could take place in the fall.
