More funding for student training and the gas tax will be on the minds of a number of Chatham-Kent representatives this week.
Mayor Randy Hope and a number of councillors are in Niagra Falls for the Annual Associations of Municipalities of Ontario Conference until August 19.
It'll be Councillor Brock McGregor's first time at the conference. He's got a couple of meetings circled on his calendar surrounding natural gas. "A meeting with the MTO looking to expand projects under the gas tax, and also one with the Ministry of Energy looking at natural gas expansion in rural Ontario."
Meanwhile, Wallaceburg Councillor Carmen McGregor is looking forward to in-person meetings with provincial officials. "When you actually have the opportunity to meet with a minister face-to-face, it has a little more impact than just sending a letter."
Mayor Hope will also meet with Southwestern Ontario Wardens to discuss infrastructure priorities.
