Boaters hoping for a straight, safe channel at the mouth of the Thames River are still waiting and at least one candidate believes they'll raise it as an election issue.
Conservative Dave Van Kesteren says he expects the issue to be raised once the campaign is in full swing.
"With the new border changes in the riding the Thames River mouth will become part of my jurisdiction, or the jurisdiction of the Chatham-Kent Leamington riding," he says. "This is going to be another case where we need to get all of the heads together and start working on this."
Boaters are concerned that there are several dead trees in the channel and sand bars, which means it's is no longer straight causing problems at night.
