Federal Election Ready For The Spotlight

The federal election may get more attention from voters now that there are no more summer holidays before election day.

BlackburnNews.com caught up with voters in southwestern Ontario to see if the summer months push election news to the background.

"It could be right, but it's certainly not the case with me or my wife. We're very much in tune with it," says Paul Janisse from Kingsville. "Not certain I can pay more attention than I already am."

For some, Labour Day is the signal to get back to school and will actually mean less time to pay attention to the election.

"For myself, I have so much more free time in the summer so there's just more time to watch the news, consume TV, newspapers whatever," says Mark Nohra from Leamington.

However, not everyone has been dialed into the election called on August 2 as one voter put it simply to BlackburnNews.com, "I'll probably pay more attention after Labour Day. Not really paying attention right now."

Voters head to the polls on October 19.
