IKEA Coming To Windsor (GALLERY)

IKEA is setting up a pick-up and order point store in Windsor.

It'll be located on Walker Rd. in the city's south end, where Future Shop used to be.

Mayor Drew Dilkens says, for years, residents have been asking him to do what he can to bring IKEA to town.

"I can tell you how delighted I was when I got a call from IKEA's President Stefan Sjostrand," explains Dilkens. "He said, 'Can I come in and talk to you?' And I said, 'Well, this is only going to be good news, so how can we help?'"

The store will feature a showroom, about 10% the size of a typical IKEA warehouse location.  It's expected to take on about 35 employees and open in the spring.

The Windsor store is one of five new pick-up and order points being set up in Canada.
