An attempt to potentially bring urban areas just outside the boundaries of Chatham and Wallaceburg into those wards didn't get the support of most councillors, and there won't be any action taken.
Councilor Carmen McGregor who introduced the motion was hoping it would pass because it called for public consultation, not an immediate change.
"I understood this conversation was going to go around the table but I was really hoping that I could bring the desires of my community forward and we could look at those fringe areas of Wallaceburg," she says. "This was to be able to go out for public consultation and a report, it wasn't going to mean these boundaries were going to change it was to investigate these boundaries and the communities of interest."
McGregor says a number of people who live right on the edge of Wallaceburg thought they were in the ward and were surprised at the last municipal election to find out they weren't and didn't know the candidates.
