Thamesville; World Remember

Remembrance Day services were held across the country and across Chatham-Kent today.

In Thamesville children walked from school to the cenotaph to take part in the event and a fly-past saluted those taking part and honoured who have served.

Among the crowd was Dana Bernier who served as a civilian contractor in Afghanistan.

"I went to 11 ramp ceremonies over there, this brings back, it's something you remember every day but this has something special to it," he says. "I was in country 185 days I was doing parts and tooling for the Leopard Tanks and LAVs there that they make in London, the heavy armour."

Among the crowd people were taking part out of respect.

"It's important to remember the sacrifices others have made," says Jennifer Vanderveen. "We think of the men who lost their lives for our freedom" adds Betty Hubble.

As well as cenotaph services a number of schools through the region held events today.
