Eight more Chatham-Kent ag pioneers have been inducted into the Kent Agricultural Hall of Fame.
The list includes former MP Rex Crawford, and Parks Blueberries founders Bill and Diane Parks. Bill says the project definitely started out as a "man and wife" affair.
"My wife was the person who nursed the blueberries while I was off working. I came home on weekends and vacation time and worked on the blueberries, and we made it into a crop at our place."
Co-founder of Kent County Fertilizer Al DeWitte started the business with Terry Youlton and Maurice Neutens back in the 60's.
"We got hold of the people involved in bulk-blending, met forecast and made money the first year. It's been a glorious 25 years after."
Rounding out the inductees are lifestock advocate Alice Uher and Professor Gerald Nelson Ruhnke.
