The Chatham Maroons lost a close 4-3 game to the LaSalle Vipers in Junior B hockey on Wednesday.
In a back and forth game, the Vipers started things off will a goal in the first, which the Maroons followed with one of their own in the second. However, LaSalle was able to gain at 3-2 lead at the end of the second frame, and extend it to 4-2 eight minutes into the third. Chatham scored once more before the buzzer, but couldn't tie the game to force overtime.
Maroons forward Ross Krieger scored two goals during the game, but says he would have been much happier with a win.
"It was a four point game," he says. "If we won this game we'd be up in the standings by a lot more points than we are now. Obviously it's a big win for [LaSalle] and they played well, so hats off to them."
The LaSalle Vipers will take on the London Nationals on Saturday at 2pm. And then at 7:30pm, the Maroons face off against the Strathroy Rockets.
