Child Abduction Rumour

Chatham-Kent police are advising the public that a rumour about an attempted child abduction is false.

Police say on Saturday they received a number of inquiries regarding an attempted child abduction at a St. Clair St. business. The inquiries cited a Facebook post with "third party information."

CK police want to make it clear that they've received no complaints about a child abduction, adding it was simply a rumour posted to social media.

Police are reminding the public that if someone makes a false complaint to purposely mislead police, that person may be charged with public mischief.
