Chatham-Kent council starts off the budget process tonight, and there will be a chance for residents to have a say next week.
Administration will provide a draft budget that assumes a 2% inflation rate and there will be input from community groups.
Next week there are public consultation session in different parts of Chatham-Kent.
All of the sessions are from 4:30pm to 6:00pm with a presentation from administration and council in the first half hour and question and answer period after that.
The sessions are:
Tuesday, January, 19, Wallaceburg Municipal Office, 786 Dufferin Ave. Wallaceburg;
Wednesday, January 20, Tilbury Arena, Ryder Hall, 55 Bond Ave. Tilbury;
Thursday, January 21, Active Lifestyle Centre, 20 Merritt Ave. Chatham.
Then council will start setting the spending priorities the following week with sessions in council chambers January 26, 27, 28 and February 2, 3, and 4.
There will be more chance for public input at those sessions. A half hour at the end of each will be set aside for public comment. You will be limited to five minutes and must sign in at the start of the meeting.
