If you've ever fantasized about representing Canada on the world stage as the next Miss Universe, your opportunity to make it a reality is Sunday.
The search for the next Miss Universe Canada starts with auditions at Mezzo Ristorante on Erie St. E in Windsor at 1pm. It's open to women between the ages of 18 and 27 who live in the 519 and 226 area codes.
Regional Director Sonny Borrelli says contestants will compete before a panel of judges.
"We have an interview process. They're going to be sitting in front of a panel of judges, and they'll be asking them some questions," he says. "We're going to train them and show them a routine, like a mock evening gown and swimsuit competition."
The winners should get a callback within a week to let them know they've advanced to the next round, the Western Ontario Regional Pageant at the Capitol Theatre in Windsor this April. The top five contestants will then participate in the national pageant in Toronto this June before the winners advance to the international pageant in 2017.
Borrelli says he has 20 applicants so far, so there's still time to apply either online, by contacting Borrelli directly on Facebook or by showing up Sunday.
