School Boards Team On Insight Event

The two largest school boards in Chatham-Kent and Lambton County are co-sponsoring an event for parents in the spring and are hoping to find ways to do the same thing in future.

Director of Education with the Lambton Kent District School Board Jim Costello says the event, which will be held in May, is bringing in a speaker on teenage behaviour.

"There is provision for schools to apply for a Parent Reaching Out grant, and this year we are co-sponsoring with St. Clair Catholic (board) and we are very grateful to them for working with us," he says. "Every year in our board we try and do an event in spring, we try to bring somebody into the region who can provide some insight for our parents and help them deal with issues in raising their kids and help them to learn."

Costello says working with St. Clair Catholic District School Board on events like that would have a wider community benefit. He adds there are possible funding opportunities the boards could be more likely to receive if they work together.
