Thames Watershed Flood Watch

Rainfall yesterday and overnight resulted in the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority issuing a flood watch for area streams and waterways.

Authority staff are not expecting the Thames River to rise enough to cover even low-lying areas but there was likely enough rain to push up smaller watercourses fairly quickly.

Levels could rise enough that water will be sent to the Indian-McGregor Creek diversion channel.

Some of the smaller streams still have ice so ice jams and locally flooding is possible.

However there almost no snow left to melt in the watershed and there is no ice in the Thames River so major flooding is not likely.
