Sting Force Game 7 With 5-1 Win

For the second straight night Sarnia beat Sault Ste. Marie 5-1 to force a winner take all game seven.

Less than 24 hours after facing elimination Saturday night, the Sting were in the same must win situation, and once again they responded with a victory.

After Sault Ste. Marie took an early lead, Jakob Chychrun tied the game with his first goal of the playoffs. One of two Sting power play goals on the night. Charlie Graham played another solid game in the Sarnia net, allowing just one first period goal despite facing 16 shots

Jordan Kyrou scored his first goal of the series, the second period's only goal, to give Sarnia a 2-1 lead through 40 minutes.

Sarnia took control of the contest in the third period, out shooting Sault Ste. Marie 14-2 in the final frame and scoring three goals to open up the 5-1 advantage. Pavel Zacha scored a pair while Jakob Chychun picked up his second of the night to seal the victory. Sarnia scored two power play goals on four opportunities while killing off all three Greyhound man advantages.

This will be this third game seven in Sarnia Sting history and the first since 2000. The Sting will host the Greyhounds Tuesday at the Sarnia Sports and Entertainment Centre with the winner advancing to the second round.
