With more rain and possible snow in the forecast, the conservation authority is asking everyone to steer clear of swollen river banks, streams and ditches.
Officials with the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority say this projected rainfall, mixed with the wet weather Chatham-Kent experienced last week is making for dangerous conditions throughout the watershed.
Water levels on the Thames River in London are expected to peak on Friday morning. That extra water will make its way to Chatham-Kent throughout the weekend.
While flooding is only expected in low lying areas, the combination of fast moving freezing water and slippery banks can quickly turn dangerous for children, pets and livestock.
The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority has not issued an official flood watch or warning.
Officials are monitoring the situation as the watershed swells, and will issue updates if needed.
