It seems like every week, police are warning the public about a new telephone scam making the rounds.
Phone scams are on the rise and a community information session, hosted by the Chatham-Kent Crime Prevention & Safety Board, wants to stop them.
President Brian French says victims of phone scams think they're doing the right thing.
"They're being asked to pay their taxes that are overdue, they're being asked to help out their grandson that's been involved in a car accident overseas," says French. "It's shocking because the people that are victims of these scams, they're smart people. They really believe that they are doing the right thing, but these scammers are just so good."
The session on Saturday, May 14th, runs from 9am until 1pm at the Park Ave. Business Centre in Chatham. Lunch is included.
