The OPP in Chatham-Kent are hoping tours of the detachment will help residents better understand what officers do day-to-day.
The OPP branch in Chatham saw strong turnout for four tours on Thursday as part of Police Week.
Constable Jay Denorer says it's the first time for public tours of the detachment.
"We're accountable to the public and this is a way to give back to the public to show them exactly where their tax dollars are being spent and answer any questions they may have of police," says Denorer.
People attending the tours were able to ask questions and learn more about the equipment officers use in patrolling the highways.
"A lot of times you see us going up and down the highways and you don't fully understand what the role of a police officer is and this gives you a chance as a member of the public to get those questions answered," says Denorer.
