Aggressive Driver In Construction Zone

A motorist faces charges after allegedly trying to take a shortcut through a construction zone.

Police say around 11am Thursday OPP saw a vehicle riding on the shoulder of Hwy 401 near Harwich Rd.

Officers allege the driver was trying to pass a Coco Paving safety vehicle, who was slowing traffic to let construction workers go into a live lane. They were trying to make urgent repairs on the CSX overpass.

OPP add the car was also travelling well above the 80km/h speed limit in the zone.

Police tracked down the driver, and now a 50-year-old Toronto man has been charged with non-authorized driving on a paved shoulder.
