Tractor Day Pitches In For Fort McMurray (Gallery)

Tractor Day in Ridgetown is proving the perfect opportunity for students to show their generosity.

Students at Ridgetown District High School put together a lemonade stand on Friday to take advantage of the Tractor Day crowds and are sending a little more than $100 to the Red Cross to help in relief efforts in Fort McMurray after wildfires forced the evacuation of the town.

Grade 7 student Carson Anderson helped setup the stand and says lemonade was popular today.

"We had a lot of people coming. Everybody came for at least more than one. It was pretty fun actually," says Anderson.

Classmate Anderson Trudgen says his school has been holding a number of fundraisers to help the relief effort in Fort McMurray.

"This week they started a chess tournament and it was $3 to enter and we did a hat day and you had to pay a dollar to wear a hat which was pretty cool," says Trudgen.

Grade 7 student Adrien Vandenbrand feels Tractor Day was the perfect fit for their lemonade stand.

"A lot of people just like to have fun with their tractors so they bring it here and it's just a fun day for the [grades] seven and eights and the rest of the high school," says Vandenbrand.

It was the 10th anniversary of Tractor Day in Ridgetown which saw Main Street filled with parading tractors.
