A provincial health study is looking for a few Chatham-Kent residents to roll up their sleeves in the name of research.
The Ontario Health Study is a long term study that will examine what causes various chronic diseases , like cancer and heart disease.
"While we know the risk factors for various chronic diseases, we don't always have a handle on what causes those risk factors," says Program Manager Kelly McDonald. "The aim of the Ontario Health Study is really to collect information and a blood sample from as many adult residents of Ontario as possible, so researchers are really able to start to piece apart what the cause of those risk factors are.
People who want to get involved have to fill out a questionnaire online, which will take about 30-45 minutes, and provide a blood sample. The sample can be given anytime at any LifeLab location.
Officials from the Ontario Health Study will also be collecting samples at the Chatham-Kent Community Health Centres on Tues. June 21, 10:30am-8:30pm, or Wed. June 22, 9am-5pm.
Anyone who is over the age of 18 who lives in Ontario can participate.
