New Critical Care Doc For CKHA

Toronto-native Dr. Jonathan Marhong has been working for the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance full-time for a short while, but he's already liking what he sees.

"People here are very friendly, more friendly than I'm used to," jokes Marhong.

Marhong is the CKHA's new Critical Care Specialist, after working at the hospital on a part-time basis at the start of 2016. He says that part-time work is what convinced him to make the permanent move to CK. "I was so impressed with the devotion and commitment the medical team had for its patients," sasy Marhong. "The coordination and the ease with which I was able to get along from a collegial standpoint with my colleagues."

Marhong says one of his goals is to clearly define the role of the ICU.

"Also to provide that extra support to an emergency room whereby, as a consultant, when I'm called down and there's a concerned physician about a patient who's very sick, to provide that bedside presence," says Marhong.

Marhong completed his Doctorate of Medicine at McMaster University, and Post Doctorate Training at the University of Toronto.
