A Chatham Native's Royal Meeting

Having already met Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in the past, former Chatham resident Brandon Houston had to up the ante a second time around.

He did just that this past Sunday in Vancouver.

Houston was one of 100 guests from across the country who got to meet, not only Justin Trudeau, but also the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

"They said I was chosen mostly because of my involvement as an entrepreneur, but also my involvement with youth and the entrepreneur ecosystem as well," says Houston.

Houston heard he'd be headed to Vancouver just last week, through a series of emails from the Prime Minister's Office.

Following a panel discussion, Houston says the guests gathered into groups. After meeting with Kate Middleton and Sophie Trudeau, they had further one-on-one discussions with the prime minister and Prince William.

"We presented who we were, they both took some time to talk personally to each of us, and about some of the challenges Canada faces," says Houston.

The Chatham native adds he was extremely impressed with the time they took to talk to everyone. The meetup was part of the "Experiences Canada: 150 and Me" initiative, looking to inspire youth to help shape Canada's future.
