Chatham-Kent police say DNA evidence they collected from the scene of a break-in in Chatham helped them to track down a suspect.
Officers say they've connected the man they arrested to two separate break-ins that both took place on Indian Creek Rd. in Chatham back in September. Some tools were stolen from the first residence while some alcohol, food, and two firearms were stolen from the second one.
Investigators were able to take some samples from the scene from one of the break-ins and sent them away for testing.
When the results came back, they matched the DNA profile of a 31-year-old Chatham man.
Police picked him up last night and charged him with two counts of break-and-enter, two count of possession of stolen property, and four firearm-related offences.
He has since been released with conditions and a future court date.
