A Chatham woman has been charged with assault and assault with a weapon after an altercation at a home.
Chatham-Kent police officials say a verbal argument began between a woman and her common-law husband while at their residence in Chatham on Friday. The incident escalated into a physical altercation when the woman punched the man.
The woman then fled the residence prior to police arriving.
Through investigation, the man disclosed a previous incident of domestic violence where he was threatened with a kitchen knife.
Sunday morning, a 31-year-old woman turned herself in to police but was released pending a court date January 24.
