Maroons Drop 5-1 Decision To Stars

The St. Thomas Stars snapped a six-game win streak for the Chatham Maroons with a 5-1 victory on Friday.

The Stars scored 10:20 into the first period, and then extended their lead to 4-0 with three back-to-back goals in the second.

Chatham got one back thanks to Kevin Gursoy, who scored 25 seconds into the third frame, but St. Thomas scored once more in less than six minutes remaining to cap off their win.

"Those guys games came out hard -- they were physical, they were getting pucks deep on net, shooting from everywhere. They just beat us in every battle out there," says Maroons forward Brendan D'Agostino. "We outshot them, but they had more quality chances."

Despite the loss, Chatham more than doubled the Stars in the number of shots on net 41-20.

The Maroons will look to bounce back on Sunday when they take on the LaSalle Vipers in Chatham at 7pm.
