The Chatham Maroons topped the St. Marys Lincolns 8-2 in their final road game of the regular season on Friday.
St. Marys drew first blood with a goal 9:42 into the first period, but Ethan Sarfati, Kevin Gursoy and Dakota Bohn scored back-to-back goals to give Chatham a 3-1 lead going into the second.
Grayson Ladd and Alec Mackenzie both scored in the second frame to increase Chatham's lead to 5-2.
The Lincolns scored early in the third, but Gursoy quickly answered with his second goal of the night for Chatham. Austin Thompson scored a goal for the Maroons 3:42 into the final frame, followed by Teddy McGeen who scored a goal at 13.31 to give Chatham a six goal advantage for the win.
"We started out a little slow, which seems a little normal for us against these guys, but all the boys pulled through," says Chatham goaltender Brendan Johnston, who made 32 saves out of 34 shots on net. "We had a great defensive effort, and obviously a great offensive effort too."
The Maroons take on the London Nationals for their final regular season game on Sunday. The puck drops at 7pm at Chatham Memorial Arena.
