A Chatham family is dumbfounded that a neighbour would complain to the municipality about the width of their front yard deck.
Traci Jinkerson just wanted a deck so her 26-year-old son with cerebral palsy could enjoy the beautiful neighbourhood and the weather.
Now Scotti, who is in a wheelchair, and his mom have to spend $1,400 to downsize the deck and she says it's unfair and unsafe for her son.
"[I] had no idea that it was too wide, therefore they want us to bring it back another 5 ft, which is unstable and not good for Scott. His chair could fall off or he could get hurt. So, we made it 10 ft by 20 ft," says Jinkerson.

Scotti says he just wants to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air, but now feels awkward.
"[I'm] really disappointed. That says to me that some people just don't care about my disability or any other person's disability," Scotti says.
Jinkerson says the complaint is cold and heartless.
"I just wanted to have a beautiful deck for Scotti and all the other children to sit and enjoy. So, Scotti can watch his siblings play hockey and basketball and enjoy the weather," she says.
