Lions Clubs Celebrate Centennial

Lions Clubs International is celebrating 100 years.

Those involved with the Chatham-based club celebrated the centennial with a flag-raising ceremony at the Civic Centre Wednesday morning.

Chatham-Kent Mayor Randy Hope was there to join in on the celebrate and show support for the group.

"Groups such as the Lions are a fine example of people who give their time and effort to make their community, their country, and their world a better place,” said Hope in a media release.

Since the international club first started in 1917, it has grown into 47,000 clubs around the world, with clubs in Wheatley, Tilbury, and Wallaceburg.
